WooHoo George Clooney, George Clooney..AM I HAPPY? but what the hell, he is looking old!!! If you check the teaser, there is a shot of him, in ol’grandad spectacles, and he looks every bit of an aged father of two teenage girls. However he still looks great.

The Descendants is the family drama about the a tycoon (Clooney) whose wife Elizabeth played by Patricia Hastie suffers a boating accident. While she suffers in a life support , Clooney  who plays the role of Matthew King  takes  his daughters to find his wife’s boyfriend  Brian played by Matthew Lillard and give the news of her impending death. In the process Matthew King also understands his daughters, their lives and they move towards understanding each other as a  family.

The director Alexander Payne has based his film on the popular novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings by the same name.  It is set in  the lush tropical world of  Hawaii, and goes through multiple emotions that creates humour as well as a realisation about life. Being set in Hawaii one can expect some great visuals, as The Descendants  has been extensively  shot in Honululu, O’ahu Hawaii and USA.

It had made an earlier release in Toronto and New York Film Festival and in both the festivals The Descendants earned great reviews, few even termed it Oscar-worthy. Clooney here is a treat to watch, subtle, dignified ,simple and comic. Equally great are Shailene Woodly and Judy Greer. Whether it actually goes for OSCAR or not, it is a mistake to let this one go.
