What was expected of Shakal Pe Mat Ja was it to be a classic comedy of errors and mistaken identities, where number of stars are zero and script and acting value extremely high. Well it is not so.

It starts of impressively. Very impressively infact, with the story premise that seems entertaining and promising a good two hours. The director Shubh who has handled the story, the direction, the lead role takes a lot on himself. He has done a okay job, though it seems may be he should have shared out the responsibilities.

The movie is all about how four guys get mistaken as terrorists while taking suspicious videos at the airport. While this premise itself is fantastic, it does remind of Tere Bin Laden, and that works against the movie. All through we expect the film to be of Tere Bin Laden standards, which may be a mistake on the viewer’s part yet it is not very uncalled for. The story revolves around the four friends who after being caught finds to their dismay that somehow their innocent activities end up linking them to the extremely dangerous terrorists.  What is more, that they actually resemble the terrorists the police is searching for! And from here the movie picks up just fine, as the four of them tries to point out that their innocence is beyond their face. The film has number of funny names for the terrorists and the flights and till this point it sincerely impresses.

However as soon as they are caught, the incidents go downhill with the lead actors behind the bars, facing one interrogation after the other. Then there are the jokes about the flatulence, reminding us of Delhi Belly, and remembering Delhi Belly is not really a great experience. It turns a little gross to be honest.

We have a few very good actors here, including some of the best names yet somehow the movie fails to impress.

The thing is that this movie is watchable, because it has its funny moments, however it seems like they tried to cash in the Low-Budget-Good-Movie genre. The low budgets movie are gene now, with some serious good acting and very compact, well- etched script. Most of the time, it is the script that hold the movies like these all through. Even after starting off nicely, the humor becomes a little repetitive.

Apart from the song Pandu, the rest does not impress much and even Pandu seems to be on the same line as ‘D.K Bose’. May be it was merely a bad time to release the film. It had its good chances and Shubh seems like a good talent and may be we should expect better stuff from him in future.

In this case after the first half the story doesn’t move anywhere much and thus the lets you down. I would say this movie would have been much better with a bigger star, simply cause it had its drawbacks. Just like Ra-One should have been a flop if it was not for SRK. Thing like that happens in the Hindi film industry!!
