Everything about Moviez

Home > Coming Up Next > Hollywood Movie Calendar > Moviez in November Part 1

Well, we have a nice collection it seems…. November will see some of the awaited movies of 2011 and I sure hope they stand to our expectation unlike The Fast and the Furious 5.

The very first of the lot is A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, releasing on 4th November in USA and Canada and 24th of November in Australia and New Zealand. I am wondering why they actually did not release it bang on Christmas, however this one looks good. It got Kal Penn and John Cho and it also got R rating and so I am expecting a good amount of serious fun. harold kumar poster (for one thing Neil Patrick Harris comes back from heaven!!)

As for the story goes it is typical Harold and Kumar series, where they search for the perfect Christmas tree, of course by getting in to trouble and getting out in their own Harold-Kumar-ish way.

At the start of the holidays it seems a good movie, with loads of laugh and popcorn. Hope the Guantanamo Bay touch is still there.

Then comes the USA only release of acclaimed Another Happy Day (Rating R)starring Demi Moore, Kate Bosworth, Ezra Miller, Ellen Barkin, Ellen Burstyn, Thomas Haden Church and Siobhan Fallon. The film first released in 2011 Sundance Film Festival and the general opinion was in favour of this strong family drama. Don’t know when will the other parts of the world see this one, but those in USA can enjoy it.

The next two releases are Puss in Boots and Tower Heist. Both are releasing on 4th November in USA.

Tower Heist has the huge star cast of all the funny men, including Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Matthew Broderick, Tea Leoni, Casey Afleck, Michael Pena and many more. In this film they are about to rob a penthouse residence of a highrise, after being cheated. With so many funny men, this should be good family comedy, but I am not expecting anything exceptional. FTOWER HEIST 2011rankly I am not expecting much from this one.

It is releasing in USA, UK, turkey, Sweden, India, on 4th of November, and in Denmark, Hungary, Poland on 10 November. With Puss in Boots releasing with it, this one will have a tough time fighting it out in the B.O. Still I wish it good luck.

That brings me to the best bit, Puss in Boots with Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis and Antonio Banderas. This movie had released the trailers long back making the wait an unbearable one. Hopefully it  it is worth the wait that we did. This movie is the promises to be one of the best this year and the chosen time of release will only heighten its profits.

Chris Miller, the director has already  redefined the way animation works with Shrek and Madagascar, and Puss promises the same amount of straight-out-from-the-heart laughter. Won’t wonder if they have already planned a sequel to Puss in Boots!!! Till then be satisfied with the poster.

A much awaited movie that will probably release in USA this November is J. Edgar by Clint Eastwood. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Naomi Watts this one will be released all over in early 2012 which means fans need to wait another few months till we get to see this one, and hopefully it will release before the world ends!!

Coming next is the fantasy, adventure, mythical Immortals. From director Tarsem Singh, whose previous movie The Cell ( sci-fi)was received well by the critics, this is a classic fantasy movie about Theseus rising against cruel King Hyperion. It is not generating much buzz but for those who like epic-fantasy-adventure movies, this one promises to be as good. Starring Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and Frieda Pinto, this one promises ( by Tarsem Singh) to be “Caravaggio meets Fight Club”.  Which seems great in the teaser. Coming from makes of 300, you do not need to work hard to see the same style of the graphics.Looks alright, can it be a hit?? lets see…

Horror thriller 11-11-11 releases, well no guessing, on 11 November, in USA, Canada and Brazil only. Starring Timothy Gibbs, Michael Landes, and Dennis Rafter, this one is the spirit-heaven-world horror.

Next in line is the promising Adam Sandler, meets Adam Sandler, with Katie Holmes looking little old (Sorry Katie Holmes Fans!) funny tale Jack and Jill.

I always like Adam Sandler movies and this one seems quirky and funny. It is releasing on 11th November in USA and Canada and in Poland, Hungary, UK & Sweden in December and February 2012. The teaser looks fresh, funny and whole lotta family fun. Definitely a film to look forward to.  Am in :)

Melancholia starring Kristen Dunst, Charlotte Gainsburg, Kiefer Sutherland & True Blood hottie Alexander Skarsgard, opened this May in the Cannes Film Festival earning Dunst the Best Actress Award. Now do you wanna watch it? I do. If not for Dunst, then for Skasgard. The director Lars von Trier tried to understand depression and the reaction of it at the face of a disaster and by the IMDB ratings it turned out good. This film has travelled in most of the festivals all over the world, and releasing in USA and Italy 11th November and in Hong Kong in January.

Another movie that is making successful rounds in  festival circuits is Celine Sciamma‘s ( Water Lilies 2007)French film Tomboy. Reviews call this film everything; from subtle, to powerful to provocative. May be this is not the movie for everyone. Releasing in USA in 25th November and Germany in 29th December, is one is a powerful character drama of the usual coming-of-age story, seasoned with gender issues. Get hold of this one if you are bored with usual, done-to-death Hollywood commercial bits.

The next part of Moviez in November, comes next with the hugely expected big budget Happy Feet Two and Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (part 1). And for that you have to turn the page, or lets say click next!! .. Till then, catch all these, and the trailers, given here and give your feed back on which  one you guy wanna watch the most…
