Arthur Christmas is one of those movies that you ought to watch with your family, especially if it is releasing around Christmas. This film starts with usual premise, the night before Christmas and along with one of the oldest stories ever told, of how Santa delivers the gift just as soon as Christmas arrives, carrying a large sack of gifts, traversing earth on a sledge pulled by reindeer, spreading good cheer all around. This time the story is just a little different and that difference makes Arthur Christmas a great movie to watch!!

This has to be the newest concept ever, for Arthur Christmas is Father Christmas’ son!! And this is about a giant UFO style sledge sending out gifts all over the world. This film shows a new sci-fi-ish highly stylized, organized North Pole where Santa plans out every little detail for executing the grand Christmas Day, so that no child misses out on the gifts!!

There is this very interesting mix between Sci-fi and children’s animation, and any grown-up who liked the star wars and the close encounter movies, would love how the refernces are spread throughout this children’s tale. It is charming enough to see Santa with his whole family, two sons, of which Arthur is the goofy one, messing up things but with a good big heart. The fact that the sci-fi is there, is also discursive, since finally the left out gift is delivered in the good’ol fashioned Reindeer, just the way it is supposed to be.

Kids will love it undoubtedly, and if you can watch it in 3D, do so, it is worth the while. Arthur Christmas has quite a few funny moments, though once the story is sorted, there is nothing much to do other than wait for Arthur to go ahead and give the last gift before the night ends. It does lose pace once in a while. Or may be we are grown-ups and we know where the film is headed towards, may be for the kids it will remain exciting all through.

All in all, go watch it.
